Fusion for Energy (F4E) and Ampegon<\/a> will continue working together to light up ITER. The Swiss company has been tasked with delivering two additional power supply units, on top of the eight currently being tested<\/a> on-site. The contract extension, responding to ITER\u2019s additional heating needs, rewards the strong expertise built over a decade by the European teams. Switzerland regains its place in European fusion research<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

As of 1 January 2026, Switzerland is once again officially participating in the ITER project thanks to the agreement on the European Union programs signed at the end of 2025. This agreement confirms Switzerland\u2019s association with the European Union\u2019s main funding programmes for research and innovation, following the halt of negotiations in 2021. For the Swiss Plasma Center, a leading actor in global fusion research, this reintegration represents a major milestone and closes a transition period marked by the continued support of Switzerland and its European partners.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
